I was extremely reluctant to jump into social media. Like most of you, I was and am very busy. My publisher, my team, my friends and my family all encouraged (pushed) me to take a leap of faith and enter the new millennium! 500 blog posts later, I can honestly say, joining the global conversation on leadership was one of the best decisions of my life.

This week, we launched my new book, Chess Not Checkers. If you have been on this site in the last few weeks, you may have seen some of the ideas from the book. Rather than recap or summarize any content in this post, I want to pause and say thank you to the men and women who have contributed directly to this project.
I met the UPS man at the door today; he was delivering our turkey for Thanksgiving. It’s amazing, you can order anything over the Internet these days. Smoked in Texas, delivered to Florida, it will be the centerpiece of a great meal. We will be thankful for the meal, our friends and family. It is, after all, Thanksgiving.
New Feature: Through My Lens
For several years now, I’ve been encouraged to include more personal information on this site. Honestly, this has been a challenge for me. I’m not sure many of you visit Great Leaders Serve to learn more about me! However, my team finally convinced me to add a new feature – a photo blog.
Many of you saw my post on June 10th asking you to help select a title for my new book. The response was outstanding. So much so, we collected well over 100 additional suggestions for what we might title the book.

Thanks for your assistance in the process and your support of the book since its release! Today, I’m delighted to tell you, I’m working diligently on my next book. Here’s a quick overview…
As many of you know, each Friday I answer a question submitted by a reader. Several weeks ago, I asked you to complete a survey to help me improve this site. Today, I’ll answer the question some of you have asked, “What did the survey say?”
10 Favorite Posts from 2013
As you wind down the year, I thought a recap of some of the favorite posts from 2013 might be helpful. Maybe you’ll find a post you missed or perhaps one of them will serve as a needed reminder as you enter 2014. Below, you’ll find a quick summary of each post along with a link.
Today's Challenge: 7 Questions
If you’ve read my blog for awhile, you’ve probably noticed that every Friday I respond to a question from a leader somewhere in the world. The series is called Today’s Challenge. This week, I want to do something a little different. Instead of providing answers, I would like to ask you a few questions.
As you know, I’m celebrating the launch of my new book this week. I’m grateful for many bloggers, friends, and influencers who are sharing The Heart of Leadership. Though we are only mid-way through the week, I am really excited about the feedback.
